Questions

Common questions

Will my customers actually pay the processing fee?
Yes. 97% of consumers already pay convenience fees for utilities, parking, and online purchases. The fee is clearly disclosed at checkout, and most customers prefer paying online over writing a check. You can always absorb the fee on any individual invoice if you prefer.
How fast do I get my money?
Card and Apple Pay payments deposit in 2 business days. Bank transfers (ACH) take 3–5 business days. All funds go directly to your connected bank account via Stripe.
How do bank transfers work?
When a customer chooses bank transfer, they securely connect their bank account through Plaid. A flat fee of $1–5 applies depending on the invoice amount — much cheaper than card processing on larger invoices.
Is it legal to pass processing fees to customers?
Yes. Surcharging is legal in 48 states. Maple Street automatically handles compliance — surcharging is disabled in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico, and capped at 2% in Colorado. Required disclosures are generated automatically.
What if a customer disputes a charge?
Maple Street uses Stripe for all payment processing, which includes built-in fraud protection and dispute management. If a chargeback occurs, we help you submit evidence and resolve it through Stripe’s dispute process.
